This is in an attempt to have comic fans become more accustomed to the idea of any upcoming Captain America movie being aperiod piece.

Now I dont know if this theory really has any legs but it sure makes for some interesting speculation one thing in the recent past of Wolverine - at least in the comics - is the character's brief association or encounters with Cap during WW II. I would love to see any kind of subtle reference to this in any future Captain America movie but I know that this is highly unlikely because of the fact that the movie rights to the Wolverine character are held by a seperate studio and not by Marvel, which has retained the movie rights to Cap and will be the studio producing the upcoming, The First Avenger: Captain America movie.

Oh well, that's what daydreaming is for...

Wolverine movie casting taking shape.

There have been some more developments with the upcoming Wolverine movie. Because of this, some casting news updates are in order.

Canadian Ryan Reynolds, the Black Eyed Peas' Will.i.am and Friday Night Lights' Taylor Kitsch have signed on to costar alongside Hugh Jackman's titanium-claw-endowed superhero in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The 20th Century Fox project, which kicked off its production in Australia this month with South African director Gavin Hood behind the camera, is currently slated for a May 1, 2009 release.

This Marvel Comics-based prequel will mark the feature-film debut of Will.i.am, who until now could only be spotted in the soundtrack portion of the credits of recent hits such as Knocked Up and Blades of Glory.

Reynolds, who dived into the butt-kicking comic character canon with his role as a former vampire in Blade: Trinity, is currently on the big screen in the romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe alongside Little Miss Sunshine also-ran Abigail Breslin.

He's also set to appear with Julia Roberts and Willem Dafoe in the ensemble drama Fireflies in the Garden, inspired by the Robert Frost poem, and will star opposite Sandra Bullock in the Valentine's Day-ready comedy The Proposal, which has a release date—Feb. 13, 2009—despite having no confirmed supporting cast.

Kitsch, who plays wounded ladies' man Tim Riggins on the probably not-long-for-this-world Friday Night Lights, starred in the male-witch thriller The Covenant in 2006, and had small roles in Snakes on a Plane and John Tucker Must Die.

While there's no confirmed word yet on which characters the production newcomers will be sinking their claws into, the roles of Sabretooth and William Stryker are already taken by Live Schreiber and Danny Huston, respectively.

Schreiber was originally rumored to be in talks to play Stryker, the would-be mutant eliminator, but producers apparently preferred him as the even more super-villainous Sabretooth, Wolverine's comparably enhanced rival.

there is some speculation however, that Reynolds could be playing the rogue mutant mercenary with a razor-wit, Deadpool, a character with some history in the Marvel universe.

Lynn Collins (The Number 23, The Lake House) has also stepped up to play Wolverine's number-one love interest, Silver Fox.

(source: eonline)
